Collaboration and Projects

RETOLD Project

RETOLD is a documentation system developed specifically for archaeological and ethnographic open-air museums. In open-air museums, collections often do not consist of portable physical objects: Buildings and practical craft skills are central to the museum.

Putting Life into Neolithic Houses

Archaeologist Annelou van Gijn received an NWO Archeologie Telt grant to investigate domestic craft and subsistence activities of late Neolithic peoples in the coastal area of the Netherlands.

Archaeoforum

Before Facebook and Twitter, we had online forums. These have some obvious advantages over social media, for example in the easily accessible archives. Nobody has to reinvent the wheel, information does not go lost.

European Archaeology Days

The EAD is a long weekend dedicated to archaeology in all its forms. We raise awareness and familiarise European audiences with all aspects of archaeology.

International Council of Museums

EXARC is an affiliated organisation to ICOM - the International Council of Museums. We represent archaeological open-air museums and experimental archaeology in the international museum circles. With over 40,000 museum professionals, ICOM is represented everywhere in the museum world.

Network of European Museum Organisations

EXARC joined NEMO - the Network of European Museum Associations - in 2018. Together, NEMO's members speak for over 30.000 museums across Europe.
