Become an EXARC member

Anybody and any organisation can join EXARC! Individual members are often people involved in or interested in open-air museums, experimental archaeology, ancient and traditional crafts, and heritage interpretation. Institutional members are legal entities involved in the same topics, often Archaeological Open-Air Museums, Universities, or Living History Associations.

What are the benefits of EXARC Membership?

Originally, EXARC membership was a way for those who believed in the goals of the network (increasing the professionality and academic acceptance of open-air museums and experimental archaeology) to support it financially. Those original goals are still an underlying foundation of what we do at EXARC, and with an increase in members we have been able to add even more opportunities to use our platforms and resources for professional development, networking, and collaborations. By becoming a member, you help us to develop those goals even further, and ensure that our outputs such as the EXARC Journal, EXARC Show podcast, EXARC Blog, and EXARC Discord server remain open-access and free to anyone to contribute.

Of course, we also want to thank our members as much as we can, so there are many added benefits to membership, which principally include:

  • A public profile on the EXARC website
  • A membership card (excl. Cat 3 members - see below) which grants free access to other EXARC members (eg museums).
  • Discounts at EXARC conferences and other events (excl. Cat 3 members - see below)
  • The possibility to use EXARC platforms to share your research projects, upcoming events, news postings, and more.
