Bio

Bangcheng Tang graduated from Renmin University of China as an undergraduate, obtaining a Bachelor of Management degree and a Bachelor of Science degree. He graduated from the Department of Archaeology at the University of Sheffield in the UK with a Master of Arts degree. Currently, he is engaged in experimental archaeological research at Sichuan University in China. His research direction for the doctorate is related to the Sanxingdui Site in Sichuan, China.
From 2020 to 2023, he successively served as a teaching assistant, lecturer, and associate professor at Baoding University, carrying out teaching and research in experimental archaeology in northern China. He has gained recognition within the experimental archaeology community in China.He has published more than 30 articles in well-known Chinese archaeological journals such as "Archaeology of the Southwestern Ethnic Groups", "Archaeology of Agriculture", "China Cultural Relics News", "Cultural Relics in Spring and Autumn", "Archaeology of the Northern Ethnic Groups", as well as in English journals like "EXARC Journal" and "The Journal of Archaeology, Tourism & Anthropology". He translated Mr. Roeland Paardekooper's work "The Value of An Archaeological Open-Air Museum Is in Its Use" into Chinese, which was published by China Textile & Apparel Press in May 2025.The social education activities in experimental archaeology that he organized in China were rated as "One of the Top 100 Innovation Cases in China in 2024" by China Cultural Relics News and the Public Welfare Culture Center of the China (China Committee for the Care of the Next Generation). He has long been committed to promoting the development of experimental archaeology and open-air archaeological museums in China.
