Bio
I have a BA in Archaeology from the University of Liverpool and an MSc in Early Prehistory and Human Origins from the University of York. Currently, I am based back at the University of Liverpool, where I am a PhD student investigating how early humans living in Palaeolithic Europe adapted their environments to survive the cold. This involves examining and analysing the extent of the relationship between culture and climate using computer simulation and ethnographic analogy. So far, this work has particularly focussed on how early populations may used shelter to shield from the cold.
My previous work has explored questions relating to Middle Palaeolithic and Neanderthal clothing, with projects examining clothing construction technologies and footwear requirements.
At Liverpool, I am also a co-organiser of the University of Liverpool Evolutionary Anthropology Seminar series, which runs weekly term-time lectures given by international experts in palaeoanthropology (and related fields).
With EXARC, I have volunteered as a podcast host for The Exarc Show since 2020. Whilst in this role, I have seen the podcast transform from its original half and half pre-recorded and live show to its current form, which I now help to host alongside my two other lovely co-hosts. We have had a range of episodes, ranging from ancient hairdressing to glass making to projects such as the Year on the Field project. Alongside this, I have also been a Master of Ceremonies at two EAC conferences, EAC12 and EAC13, facilitating Q&A sessions for our speakers.
I have also worked as an archaeological geophysist. Outside of work, I enjoy gardening and sewing!
