Bio
I have a bachelors degree (BA) in European and Near Eastern Archaeology. My bachelors thesis is about textiles tools in rich burials of the Eastern Hallstatt Culture. I am currently a masters student in prehistoric and early historic archaeology specializing in archaeological textiles, textile tools, textile techniques and experimental archaeology. I mainly worked with Iron Age textile tools from southern Germany. I am weaving with the warp weighted loom, spinning with the drop spindle, dabble in tablet weaving, the procurement of fiber, dying with plant dyes as well as the odd bit of naelbinding and sprang.
I also work a museums guide an archaeological museum, mainly with students age 8 to 17. Subject of the guided tours and practical program are mostly the roman period in Bavaria, but also the Stone Ages. I further teach textile techniques in different museums (for the public) and in my position as a student assistant at LMU-Munich.
