Support Maarten Peels' Grand Tour Préhistorique

Some of you may remember EXARC member Maarten Peels' short film project from last year, The Bison’s Legs. Inspired by the cave art of Chauvet and the flutes from Hohle Fels, it is set in the Late Palaeolithic and tells the story of a shaman and his friend on a dream quest to make a new cave painting. The film is now openly available on YouTube, so feel free to give it a view and share it around! https://youtu.be/G5aI4n0Jx5c
Maarten recently finished his Master’s in Applied Ethics at Utrecht University, and now this project is picking up again. His plan is to make a longer Stone Age film, with the main themes being the circle of life and the cycle of the seasons. The working title is The Eternal Seasons.
Involving the scientific community will be essential to this project. To start the process, Maarten is undertaking a Grand Tour of Europe, visiting some of the great prehistoric sites and museums, starting on September 6th.
The purpose of this trip is to deepen his knowledge of the Palaeolithic, to find inspiration, and to build professional ties with experts. He will invite them to watch his film and provide feedback, as well as to consider reviewing the script for the next film. Along the way, he will produce short documentaries about prehistory and his plans for the next film. His route will pass through Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, France, and Spain. For a more detailed schema of the route, please consult his website: https://www.potenvandebizon.nl/filmplannen/
Although the trip is mainly planned around museums, it would also be wonderful to meet individual EXARC members along the way. Interviews with members about their work and their perspectives on prehistory would be very valuable for the project. If you live near or in the regions mentioned in the route and are interested in cooperation, please contact him at maarten.peels@outlook.com.
