Specialist in the Bronze Age and ancient warfare. Field archaeologist. Researcher in Bronze Age archaeometallurgy. Participant in research projects of New York University Abu Dhabi. I was born on May 23, 1989, in Almaty (Kazakhstan). In 2011, I graduated from the Faculty of History at Chelyabinsk State University with a degree in archaeology. From 2011 to 2015, I worked as a lab assistant at the university’s archaeological laboratory and pursued postgraduate studies in archaeology.
In 2012, I founded the Association for Experimental Archaeology and Living History “Archaeos”, which unites more than 300 members from the CIS, the USA, and Western Europe.
From 2015 to 2018, I worked as a research fellow at the Scientific and Educational Center for Eurasian Studies at South Ural State University.
From 2018 to 2022, I headed the Laboratory of Experimental Archaeology at the same center and taught at the Department of World History at South Ural State University.
Since 2021, I have been involved in research projects led by New York University Abu Dhabi. Since 2022, I have been working at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the NAS RA, where, together with Dr. Benik Vardanyan, I established the Laboratory of Experimental Archaeology.
From 2022 to 2023, I served as the head of the Karmir Blur Museum-Reserve (Yerevan, Armenia).
I am the author of more than 30 scientific publications. My research interests include the Bronze Age, ancient warfare, early technologies, and fortification. I focus on the Bronze Age of the Armenian Highlands, the territory of the UAE, and wider Eurasia. I am also engaged in the study of the Bronze Age world economy.
Since 2006, I have participated annually in excavations of fortified settlements and cemeteries from the Bronze Age in the Southern Urals, Siberia, and Kazakhstan. Since 2022, I have been leading and taking part in excavations of Bronze Age sites in Armenia.
I am the organizer of several major archaeological reconstruction projects, including:
the Russian-Greek project on the reconstruction of a Sintashta bow (2018, EXARC Twinning Program), in collaboration with EXARC member archaeologist Spyros Bakas (Koryvantes Association);
the Russian-American project on the reconstruction of a Sintashta chariot (2020), with Dr. Igor Chechushkov (University of Pittsburgh);
the Armenian-Israeli expedition "Oikumena", researching Bronze Age maritime routes of the Mediterranean, in collaboration with historian Arseny Vesnin.
I also organize living history events and historical festivals. I host the podcast "Corridors of Time" on Armenian Radio 106.5 FM, dedicated to history and archaeology.
