Bio
I am a functional analysis specialist specialised in lithic tools from Prehistory. Currently, I am a post-doctoral researcher at Ghent University working in the ROAM - Regional Outlook on Ancient Migration project. For this, I analyse the use of lithic tools from the Mesolithic in Meuse Valley in Belgium through microwear and residue analysis. I have set up a functional analysis lab at Ghent University during my PhD, and for that performed a lot of experiments using Prehistoric lithic tool replicas to replicate hunter-gatherer-fisher activities. For my PhD, I was investigating the effect of patination and burning on the preservation of use-wear traces. This work also involved a lot of experimentation, both in the lab and in real-life settings.
