Bio

I hold a master's degree in archaeology from Wits University, where I graduated with distinction. I am currently pursuing my PhD in the same field. My research focuses on the palaeoenvironment and changes in human behaviour and subsistence strategies in southern Africa, using a combination of zooarchaeology, isotopic analysis, and proteomics. I have a passion for exploring the past and understanding the human-animal relationships that shaped our history and culture. I worked and trained at the University of Turin, where I acquired critical ZooMS skills that could be applied to modern and ancient samples. ZooMS is a technique that identifies taxa from animal bones based on their collagen sequences.
I hope to be more involved in experimental work in my future research to better understand collagen degradation and preservation with applications to African Archaeology
